How do I know if I have PCOS?
If you have symptoms such as excessive weight gain, period problems, facial or body hair, mood swings, tiredness, thinning hair, cravings for food, irritability, a tendency to faint or emotional problems, you could have PCOS. Your doctor will arrange for an ultrasound scan and the results will give you the answer. You could have one, two or all of the above symptoms, so it is important, if you feel you have PCOS, that you discuss this with your doctor!

Why do I find it difficult to lose weight with PCOS?
PCOS is a chemical or hormone imbalance which can make it very difficult for many sufferers to lose weight. Your body is unable to process certain foods, mainly sugars or some carbohydrates. You have an insulin resistance problem and need a diet which is low sugar, low fat, low carbohydrate and protein, in order to be successful. Your diet will include certain foods with B vitamins, because some of the PCOS medications can reduce B vitamins in the body and these need replacing, in order to be successful and healthy. You also need a diet plan that is worked out to suit your personal metabolic rate and lifestyle. More important than this is the need for one-to-one counselling to enable you to discuss your dietary problems, in confidence, with your personal Adviser. Vitaline has researched PCOS and a special set of diets have been prepared, to suit the needs of each PCOS sufferer. A high success rate has been achieved, with many of our slimmers reporting considerable reductions in their PCOS symptoms.

In what way is the Vitaline PCOS diet different to other diets I have tried?

The Vitaline diet is totally different from anything you have tried because each diet is worked out to suit your individual metabolic rate and takes into account your PCOS. When you suffer with PCOS, there are certain foods which slow down your weight loss. A list is provided of the foods that will suit you better.

Dozens of tips are given, which work with your diet and help to improve your weight loss. For example, having a drink of boiled, cooled, water with a slice of lemon each morning, can hydrate your body, after a night's sleep, clear out your system, and will help any constipation problems. Lemon is nature's natural cleanser and can help to clear skin problems. Avoiding eating or drinking from anything in plastic. For example, drinking water out of a glass container, rather than a plastic container or a can, can help reduce your PCOS symptoms. Plastic is a chemical and when you have a chemical or hormone imbalance, it is safe for your health to omit chemicals from your diet.

If microwaving food in plastic containers, please place in a glass container before your microwave. Washing all vegetables in a solution of one part vinegar to 12 parts waters will help rid them of some of the pesticides or chemicals that are sprayed during their growth. Whenever possible, try to avoid chemicals and keep food plain and without additives. This will certainly help your weight loss and your health in general.

Should I buy organic food?

When you suffer with PCOS, it is important that you keep your food and drinks chemical or additive free. Buying organic food is an investment in your health and because it is pesticide free, it will not upset the chemical imbalance in your body which has been created because of the PCOS.
If you cannot afford organic food or it is difficult to obtain, always wash your vegetables and fruit in a solution of one part vinegar to twelve parts water, then rinse under the cold water tap to remove the vinegar 'odour'. Place in the refrigerator to keep cool. This can reduce the pesticides or chemicals in the and is much better when you already have a chemical or hormone imbalance. .

When you suffer with PCOS, it is important that you do not introduce chemicals or additives into your body, because you already have a hormone or chemical imbalance. You will make your symptoms worse if you introduce chemicals. You can have a glass of red wine. Red wine contains bioflavanoids, which can help reduce your symptoms. You can eat in restaurants, or have take-away meals, providing you eat sensibly, keeping your foods additive or chemical free. Your personal Diet Adviser will give you lots of tips on what to eat, when you enrol.

You will start on a Cleanser or detox diet, which will teach you how to eat a balanced diet. You can expect to lose at least 5 lbs, in your first week, then a regular 2 lbs each week after that. Doctors recommend that ladies with PCOS should take their weight loss slowly, in order to lose excess fats, not muscle tissue. Obviously, if you have a larger weight problem, the unwanted pounds come off quicker. With the constant support that you get from your personal Diet Adviser, you will be given all the tips necessary to help you, personally, to get the very best weight losses. At Vitaline, we want you to succeed.

A Cleanser diet is the one that you start on your first week, until your Diet Adviser has worked out your personal diets to suit you individually. The cleanser diet will help you to lose a good few pounds, which will give you the motivation to keep trying. It has a breakfast, lunch, evening meal and snack. It also has the special foods that you need to eat to help reduce your PCOS. For example soda or rye bread instead of standard bread which contains wheat. On your cleanser diet, we will teach you how to nibble on certain foods that will improve the B vitamins in your body, but will also speed up your metabolic rate to improve your weight loss.
